Being selected for the RA and hanging the labels on the pictures is an exciting experience. These were the two pictures chosen by Grayson Perry for his Yellow Room in 2018
Exhibiting artists are invited to VARNISHING DAY - originally to apply varnish to one’s oil painting, but now a big party. In 2018 I decided to varnish my toe nails to mark the event.
There is a steel band in the courtyard, and at a signal everyone lines up to march down Piccadilly to St James’s Church for a service, then everyone marches back and the huge doors are flung open to reveal the show for the first time

An Allegory of Modern Marriage (after Jan Van Eyck’s Arnolfini Portrait) was exhibited in the 2014 Summer Exhibition and accumulated an awful lot of red dots.
Klimt in the Care Home and The Moaning Geezer were hung in the corner of the famous Yellow Room. They attracted a great deal of attention and discussion at the Private Views.
